Kasambya SACCO Ltd has taken another important step toward strengthening its operations and improving the financial well-being of its members through a benchmarking tour of four well-performing SACCOs in Western Uganda.
On 15th–16th July 2026, the Board of Directors, Supervisory Committee, and Management Staff of Kasambya SACCO undertook a benchmarking tour designed to expose the leadership and management team to successful practices that can be adapted to improve the SACCO’s performance and service delivery.
The delegation visited four SACCOs:
- Rushere SACCO Ltd – Rushere Town Council, Kiruhura District
- Benania SACCO – Mbarara City
- Rukiga SACCO Ltd – Muhanga Town Council, Rukiga District
- Buyanja SACCO Ltd – Rukungiri District
Learning from Successful SACCOs
The benchmarking exercise focused on practical areas that are critical to the growth and sustainability of a SACCO.
Among the key areas studied were:
- Good governance and leadership
- Loan management and portfolio quality
- Savings mobilization
- Member recruitment and retention
- Use of technology in SACCO operations
- Customer service
- Risk management
- Financial sustainability
- Staff development and capacity building
The visits enabled the Kasambya SACCO team to learn directly from institutions that have demonstrated strong performance in their respective communities.
Rather than simply observing how other SACCOs operate, the delegation focused on identifying practical approaches that can be adapted to Kasambya SACCO’s own environment and member needs.
Turning Lessons into Action
Learning is most valuable when it leads to action.
Following the benchmarking tour, Kasambya SACCO held a Leaders and Management Review Meeting on 25th July 2026. The meeting provided an opportunity for leaders and management to reflect on the lessons from the four SACCOs and identify strategies that can be implemented at Kasambya.
The discussions focused on improving service delivery, increasing membership, strengthening loan portfolio management, mobilizing savings and share capital, and improving the overall performance of the SACCO.

By learning from successful institutions and adapting proven practices to its own context, Kasambya SACCO aims to create greater value for its members and contribute to improved livelihoods within the communities it serves.
